The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that a motorcyclist is listed in critical condition after being involved in an accident with another vehicle on Florida Interstate 4.
The Florida Highway Patrol stated in a report that 24-year-old Adrian Ibarra was driving his 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle westbound on the I-4 when a Dodge Avenger rammed into the back of bike. The impact flipped Ibarra's bike and threw him to the pavement.
The driver of the other vehicle, Elizabeth Fredrich, suffered minor injuries while Ibarra sustained much more severe injuries. Medical responders rushed Ibarra to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he is now listed in critical condition. Florida Highway Patrol reports that charges are pending against Frerich and an investigation is still currently underway.
The National highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that there were 5,312 fatalities associated with motorcycle accidents in the U.S. in 2008. The state of Florida was home to 556 of those fatalities.
