Only one driver was able to walk away from a two-car accident in New Milford last week.
According to police reports Michael Hammer, 36, crossed over the center line and struck the Jeep Cherokee operated by William Penley, 59. While Penley was pronounced dead at the scene of the car accident, Hammer was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he has remained ever since. He is currently listed in stable condition. His son, a passenger at the time, was also injured but has since been released from the hospital.
Sadly enough, this is not the first fatal accident that Hammer has been involved in. The first was back in 2006 when he was cited for reckless driving when he was caught racing with a friend on a back road. The second car crash, leading to the death of his friend who had been operating it.
