The family of a woman who was killed in a tragic tractor-trailer collision last year has filed a wrongful death suit against the trucking company and the driver of the tractor-trailer company.
In December of last year, the tractor-trailer driver was headed down a highway when he attempted a right turn. In order to make the narrow turn the driver swerved left and blocked all northbound lanes. A man driving behind the trailer was unable to avoid striking the rear end of the trailer when it blocked all oncoming traffic lanes. The woman in the passenger seat of the car suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident.
The woman's family is accusing the driver of the tractor-trailer and the trucking company of negligence. The suit claims that the company failed to perform an adequate background check on the driver, failed to properly evaluate the driver's abilities, failed to monitor and supervise the driver, and failed to perform a criminal history on the driver. The family is seeking damages for loss of earnings, pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of life, mental trauma, medical expenses, and court costs.
