The past two months have been rife with boat accident and diving deaths in South Florida, a fact that has kept local law enforcement not just busy, but concerned.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the latest victim was a 62-year-old man who was diving at a local beach. His family spoke with the responding officers stating that the man was searching for lobsters in that area. His death came as a shock to his family who spoke of his 20+ years of diving experience.
Officers say that the victim's body was discovered four hours after he went missing, about a mile from where he was first diving. After examining his body, the medical examiner's office determined that the older man had died of asphyxia as a result of drowning. This latest victim joins four others, several of whom were experienced divers.
