Local police officers were injured in an embarrassing car accident last week. One police car rear-ended another police car on an on-ramp when both vehicles were attempting to enter the freeway. The accident happened at a great enough impact to deploy the airbag of the rear car, the one responsible for the accident. The police officer in that car injured his hand when his air bag deployed. The officer driving the police car that was hit was also injured. After the accident, that officer complained of neck and back pain and was also reported being dazed by the accident.
Both wounded officers were taken to a local hospital for care and observation. Nearly a dozen emergency vehicles and police cars responded to the accident slowing traffic in the area for a considerable amount of time. A spokesperson for the police department could not say whether the officers were responding to a call when the accident occurred.
