Effective January 1, 2020, law enforcement is able to issue citations to drivers who are texting while driving. If you must text, please find a safe place to park your car while you tend to your pending messages and phone calls. Texting and driving is now a primary offense, which means you can be pulled over simply for texting and driving. Further, if you are involved in a crash while texting, there can be additional civil penalties that apply.
